On 13 September 1941, Leading Aircraftman Bidgood, a Fitter II Airframe, was taken ill during a dance at the Pavilion Ballroom and admitted to the Royal Victoria and West Hampshire Hospital. On 4 October 1941 he died of a sub-arachnoid haemorrhage.
