LEST WE FORGET

Air Operations (No. 464 Squadron Mosquito aircraft HR187), France, 6 October 1944

Mosquito HR187 took off from RAF Thorney Island at 2154 hours on the night of 6/7th October 1944, being part of a squadron force of 13 aircraft detailed to carry out night intruder operation in Northern France. HR187 failed to return from the mission. It was later learned that both the crew had been killed when the aircraft crashed at Lille/Vendeville, France, and are buried in the Lille Southern Cemetery.
