LEST WE FORGET

Air Operations (No. 464 Squadron Mosquito aircraft NS943), Germany, 23 April 1945

Mosquito NS943 took off from Melsbroek, Belgium, at 2147 hours on the night of 23/24th April 1945, as part of a Squadron force of 12 aircraft detailed to carry out night intruder operations in the Sternberg area including bombing Bremen on MRCP and bomb and strafe railway junctions, trains, engines, sidings, villages. NS943 failed to return from the mission. It was later learned that both members of the crew had lost their lives and are buried in the Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery.

Flying Officer Peter Joseph Baker (J/36574) (RCAF) (Pilot)
Flying Officer Conrad Albert Lee (J/46470) (RCAF) (Navigator)

No. 464 Squadron lost Mosquito TA372 on 24 April 1945 with both crew members evading capture.
