On 19 February 1917, Lieutenant Adams (Observer), flying in Avro aircraft 7989, was fatally injured when the engine failed and the aircraft nose-dived into the ground at Aboukir. Lieutenant George Charles Henry Culley RFC (Pilot) was injured.
