On 8 January 1945, Leading Aircraftman Adcock, a Flight Rigger, was dangerously injured with extensive burns and admitted to No. 24 Medical Clearing Station, Noemfoor and he died of his injuries on 9 January 1945. The fire was assumed to have been caused by a spark from a gun solenoid, while he was testing the gun firing mechanism during a 160 hourly inspection. He was working underneath Kittyhawk A29-803 cleaning the gun and unable to get clear before being extensively burned.
