Stirling BF565 took off from RAF Downham Market at 2303 hours on the night of 29/30th May 1943, detailed to bomb Wuppertal, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter and crashed on a plot of land known as Kathrinemplei near Kattenis (Liege), 2 kms north north east of Eupen, Belgium.
All the crew members were killed.
