On 28 November 1942, Aircraftman Class I Barker, a Storekeeper, lived out from the Unit. He was taken ill at his residence in Bundaberg on 27 November and brought by Ambulance to Station Sick Quarters. On 28 November he was admitted to the Bundaberg General Hospital where he died of cerebra-spinal meningitis at 1550 hours that day.
