At 2220 hours on 7 October 1943, Flight Sergeant Bicknell, a Wireless Air Gunner, was fatally injured at Gates Corner, Woodford Green, as a result of an enemy bombing raid. He was off duty and on leave at the time of the raid and died from his injuries at 1140 hours on the 15 October 1943.
