On 16 March 1917, Second Lieutenant Bramley resigned from the Australian Army and accepted a Commission in the British Army.
On 23 September 1917, Second Lieutenant Bramley (Pilot) and Second Lieutenant John Matthew De Lacey RFC (Observer), flying DH4 aircraft A7643, were shot down in flames near Ledegem, Belgium.
