At 2325 hours on the night of 27 May 1944, Lancaster ND814 took off from Little Staughton detailed too mark the target, the airfield at St-Jacques, Rennes, France. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft crashed on the western side of the target area and all the crew members were killed.
