Spitfire AA740 flown by Sergeant Buettel and Spitfire W3832 flown by Sergeant Thomas Seth Mathers (1112782) (RAFVR) collided in the air at 1345 hours on 11 February 1942 and crashed at Farley, near Salisbury, Wiltshire. Both Pilots from No. 118 Squadron were killed.
