Oxford Z7073 took off from RAF Leconfield on 24th September 1942, on a solo non-operational training flight and crashed at 1530 hours near Ryther, Yorkshire. Witnesses stated that the aircraft was seen to dive vertically from 2,500 feet with full engine, and that the aircraft appeared to pull out of the dive successfully, but then suddenly started to dive again from which the aircraft never recovered. Sergeant Cadd was killed in the crash.
