At 2252 hours on the night of 21May 1944 Lancaster ND754 took off from Witchford detailed to bomb Duisberg, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft crashed at Duisberg-Beekerwerth. Seven of the crew members were killed and one became a Prisoner of War.
