On 3 April 1945, Leading Aircraftman Campbell, a Driver Motor Transport, was electrocuted when he was removing the camps public address broadcasting apparatus to a new location. He had previously done the connecting of the apparatus because in civilian life he was a telephone linesman. During the course of this duty, it was necessary to detach the apparatus from the unit electrical power lines by the removal of a plug, and in doing so his left hand came into contact with a live wire.
