On 29 May 1945, Flight Lieutenant Davies died at the Station Sick Quarters Brighton as the result of a ground accident. On 3 February 1945 he was the Pilot of No. 460 Squadron Lancaster PB301 (Flying Officer Victor Dunn (429652) (Navigator)) which was detailed to carry out a bombing raid on Bottrop, Germany. The plane crashed and Flight Lieutenant Davies became a PoW but was subsequently returned safe to the UK.
