On 15 April 1943, Leading Aircraftman Drury, a Driver Motor Transport, was under treatment at No. 6 RAAF Hospital, Heidelberg, for a secondary spread of excised Melanoma. On 3 July 1943, he was transferred to No. 3 RAAF Hospital, Bradfield Park, and assessed seriously ill. On the 27 July he was assessed as dangerously ill and he died on 3 August 1943.
