On 9 January 1946, Leading Aircraftman Dumont, a Driver Motor Transport, was engaged in dumping explosives in the sea, and at the time of the accident was working on a barge which was used for the purpose. During dumping operations, a tin cylinder containing 10 aircraft bomb detonators exploded, and Leading Aircraftman Dumont received severe injuries from which he died a few minutes later. The following members were injured in the explosion.
