On 18 August 1918, Second Lieutenant Ferguson was killed in the crash of Sopwith Camel aircraft C6746 at Shipton Moyne, Gloucestershire.  His aircraft collided in the air with Sopwith Scout aircraft D4170 flown by Lieutenant Harry Taylor.
