At 0146 hours on 31 August 1944 Halifax LL400 took off on a special No. 38 Group operation over Europe. The aircraft was due to return at 0543 hours, but nothing further was heard after take-off, and the aircraft did not return to base. In 1950 the crew members were recorded as having no known graves.
