Folios on the NAA file state that Flight Sergeant Greaves may have died as a POW on 28 July 1942 but later files classify his death with effect form 15 June 1942.

On 15 June 1942 Baltimore AG699 took off from RAF Luqa Malta detailed to carry out an operational sea patrol. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to return to base.
