Hampden P5322 took off from RAF Cottesmore at 0001 hours on the morning of 1 August 1942, detailed to bomb Dusseldorf, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base. Three of the crew lost their lives and one became a Prisoner of War.
