On the 10th May 1943, Oxford BG220 took off from RAF Banff on a solo non-operational day training flight. The aircraft crashed at 1000 hours at Mains of Kinnoch, Ellen, Aberdeenshire, and the pilot, Flight Sergeant Hampton, was killed.
