On 26 March 1945, Leading Aircraftman Hassett, a Coppersmith, was dangerously injured in a motor vehicle accident on the Charters Towers Road, two miles from 13 ARD. A leave tender overturned and he was admitted to No 3 Medical Receiving Station. He died of his injuries on 29
March 1945. Leading Aircraftman Bruce Drysdale Green (61686) was killed in the accident.
