On 5 September 1944, Wirraway A20-469 crashed at Narromine aerodrome in a landing accident, and both the crew members were injured. Flight Sergeant Hawdon was admitted to Station Sick Quarters Narromine with concussion, a fractured nose, shock, and internal injuries.
