Lancaster LM318 took off from RAF Ludford Magna on the night of 25/26th June 1943 detailed to bomb Ludwigshafen. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft crashed at Ermen, 4 kms south south east of Ludwigshafen and all the crew members were killed.
