On 1 September 1943, Aircraftman Class I Hodson, a Trainee Technician, was admitted to Station Sick Quarters with vague pains in the limbs and various joints. He was transferred to No. 1 RAAF Hospital on 8 September 1943, suffering from acute Lymphatic Leukaemia. On 21 September 1943, he was transferred to No. 3 RAAF Hospital, Concord West, and he died on 22 October 1943 at 2320 hours.
