At 2025 hours on the night of 2 September 1941, Wellington W5434 took off from Feltwell detailed to bomb Frankfurt, Germany. On return from the mission the aircraft crashed at 0320 hours after hitting a house in Bar Lane, Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. At the time visibility was poor and all the crew members were killed.
