Wellington HF535 took off at 0116 hours on 7 August 1943 being one of a number of aircraft detailed to attack the beaches between Cape Pelere and Messina. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base. Following post war enquiries and investigations, it was recorded that the missing crew have no known graves.
