At 1300 hours on 5 February 1943, Spitfire ES368 crashed at La Senia landing ground at Oran, Algeria. The aircraft collided with another aircraft on the ground while landing during heavy rain. The fuselage was badly damaged and cut in two killing Flying Officer Jones while the pilot of the other aircraft was uninjured.
