On 15 September 1917, Air Mechanic Lauchland was attached to No. 4 Squadron from No. 1 Aircraft Depot RFC pending the Squadron’s arrival in France.  On 16 November 1917, he was wounded and subsequently died.  He was attached to No. 68 Squadron RFC (No. 2 Squadron AFC) at the time of his death.
