At 1643 hours on the night of the 18 November 1943, Halifax HX190 took off from Melbourne detailed to bomb Mannheim, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft crashed at Rapscourt (Marne), 10 kms south west of Ste-Menehould, France. Six of the crew members were killed and one taken prisoner.
