At 2230 hours on the 6 March 1942, Wirraway A20-376 crashed at Laverton and the Pilot Officer Littlejohns was seriously injured and died of his injuries the next day. Sergeant Madin was slightly injured. The Pilot had held the aircraft down past the end of the flare path and the aircraft struck a fuel tanker on the edge of the aerodrome.
