No. 460 went to Stuttgart on 19th-20th October and, although crews were cautious in their reports because the target had been obscured by cloud, later evidence showed that electrical, chemical and aircraft factories had been badly damaged. The same night a smaller force from No. 5 Group (including Nos. 463 and 467 RAAF Squadrons) struck at Nuremberg and added to the confusion already created by USAAF daylight raids.

Lancaster PB175 took off from RAF Binbrook at 1652 hours on 19 October 1944 to bomb Stuttgart, Germany. Bomb load 1 x 4000 lb (pound) (1,800 kg) bomb and 1800 x 4 lb (2 kg) incendiaries. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base. Twenty eight aircraft from the squadron took part in the raid and two of these including PB175 failed to return.
