CWGC Additional Information: (Served as Mathews). Son of the Rev. William Teesdale Mackintosh and Mrs. Ethel Lawrence Mackintosh, of 19, Davigdor Road, Hove, Sussex. On outbreak of war enlisted with the 1st Australian Contingent; was wounded at Gallipoli on 25th April, 1915

On 1 August 1915, Lieutenant Mackintosh resigned from the Australian Army and accepted a Commission in the British Army. His Service Record does not provide any reason for service under the name George Mathews.
On 2 October 1917, Lieutenant Mackintosh (Observer) and Lieutenant William Reason Bishop RFC (Pilot) were killed when they were shot down in DH4 aircraft 7642 during an aerial battle with seven German aircraft over Ezel, France.
