Wellington P9244 took off from Mildenhall at 2146 hours on 11 August 1940 to attack Gelsenkirchen, Germany. On return to base at 0348 hours and while making an approach wide of the flare path, the bomber collided with a radio mast and crashed at Beck Row, killing the entire crew.
