On the 28 February 1944, Spitfire JL242 flown by Flight Sergeant Moss and Spitfire ES336 flown by Flight Sergeant Allan William O’Brien (421028) collided in mid-air and crashed 10 miles south east of Abu Sueir aerodrome and both Pilots were killed.
