On 26 January 1942 Vilderbeest K4599 was reported lost in enemy action over Endau, Malaya. Other crew reported seeing K 4599 shot down by Japanese carrier borne fighter aircraft and crash in flames. Following post war enquiries and searches it was recorded in 1951 that the missing crew members had no known graves.
