While on patrol over St Quentin on 4 October 1918, Major O’Hara Wood flying Sopwith Camel D6519 was fatally injured in an aerial collision with Sopwith Camel aircraft H7771 at 14,000 feet. The pilot of H7771 was Second Lieutenant Lorne Lamont Saunders RAF (from Canada) who was also killed.
