On 21 January 1944, Flying Officer Owen was injured in the crash of Beaufighter R2139 in which Flight Lieutenant Douglas Henry Frederick Pitt (408023) was killed.

On 22 April 1944, Beaufighter X7597 from RAF Station Cranfield crashed at 0015 hours at Westoning, Bedfordshire. The aircraft spun in and both the crew members were killed.
