On 6 October 1941, Hurricane W9175 flown by Sergeant Quint was detailed to carry out a training intercept and practice attack on another section of three aircraft led by Pilot Officer Neale (an Instructor) and two students. Hurricane W9175 crashed as a result of over correction by the Sergeant Quint at low altitude after being caught in the slip stream of the other aircraft and he was killed.
