On 15 June 1943, Kittyhawk A29-362 flown by Flying Officer Randall crashed on a beach near Portland Roads and he was killed. The aircraft was being ferried from Bankstown to No. 76 Squadron’s new base on Goodenough Island, Papua New Guinea.
