At 1955 hours on 12 September 1941 Wellington R1328 took off from Alconbury to attack Frankfurt, Germany. The aircraft was last heard from on radio at 2206 hours indicating that the port engine had failed. The aircraft was lost with two crew members killed and four taken prisoner.
