On 28 August 1918, Lieutenant Scott was killed in the crash of Avro 504K aircraft 8402 near Minchinhampton Aerodrome.  Flying in a north-easterly direction, Avro 8402 collided with Avro 9282 flown by Second Lieutenant Roy Lytton Cummings that was flying in a south-easterly direction at 90 degrees to 8402.  8402 turned to the left and the starboard wings came into contact, causing both machines to crash and both pilots were killed.
