On 15 September 1942, Kittyhawk EV322 flown by Sergeant Scribner was one of eight aircraft in a formation scrambled at 1755 hours for an intercept in the El Alamein area. Enemy aircraft were encountered 5 miles south of El Alamein and dogfights ensued. EV322 was not seen during the engagement and failed to return to base.
