At 1000 hours on 19 May 1942, Battle 2022 crashed at high speed during a training exercise over the shore of the St Lawrence River, near Mt Joli, Quebec, a few miles from the school. Eye- witnesses stated that the engine of the aircraft appeared to catch fire. The crew of four was killed.
