On 8 November 1943 Mitchell FV927 took off from Swanton Morley along with other aircraft from the Squadron, detailed to carry out high level bombing of constructional works at Mimoyecques. During the bombing, FV927 received a direct hit from anti-aircraft fire in the centre of the fuselage, which set the starboard wing and fuselage on fire. The aircraft dived steeply, side slipped, and began to spin to the ground where it blew up. All the crew members were killed.
