Warrant Officer South (Wireless Air Gunner) was reported missing in the Far East, and later reported a Prisoner of War in the hands of the Japanese. He died of Cholera in a camp in Thailand on 21 July 1943.  He likely became a Prisoner in the February-March 1942 period around the time of the surrender of allied forces in Singapore and then in Java.
