Halifax LW337 took off from Pocklington at 1637 hours on 20 January 1944 to attack Berlin. The aircraft was hit by flak over the target, which set alight the starboard wing and bomb bay. The aircraft dived steeply and broke up. Of the four who died, two are buried in Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery and two are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
