On 9 June 1942, Sergeant Stevens, a Wireless Air Gunner, was admitted to the No. 112 Australian General Hospital, Greenslopes, assessed seriously ill with acute nephritis. He became dangerously ill on 22 June, and died at 1900 hours on 24 June 1942.
