On 26 October 1942, Hurricane BN110 was one of 12 aircraft from the Squadron detailed to carry out a sweep of landing grounds in North Africa. Aircraft from No. 333 Hellenic Squadron aircraft were acting as top cover. Enemy aircraft were sighted but no engagement took place. As the formation returned to base at the conclusion of the patrol other pilots observed BN110 lagging behind the last flight. BN110 crashed 3 miles north east of the base at 1600 hours and Sergeant Stoddart was killed.
